APPLYING to COLLEGES as a TRANSFER Student in CALIFORNIA: 101

I know that there is A LOT that goes into applying to colleges and it can be so confusing, especially if you do not have people to help or awful counselors like I did...

KEY:
CC = community college
JC= junior college
TAG= Transfer Admission Guarantee
ASAP= As soon as possible

Here is the Low-Down for Transferring from a CC/JC!

PRE-APPLICATION

1. Make sure you know what MAJOR(S) you're interested in. Then LOOK up on the college website AND assist.org what classes are REQUIRED as PRE-MAJOR courses. * To compare colleges and majors look at the requirements for each major and also look at what courses they offer! I've changed my mind before about my #1-#6 because of the courses offered!

2. KNOW what is required for GENERAL EDUCATION for UC and CSU.

3. TAKE those classes. Make a list, try to plan them out as much as possible but allow freedom if they fill up before you can get to them in a certain semester.

4. ALWAYS apply ASAP to classes. If your registration time is 8am on Saturday then be logged in at 7:50am with the classes set up so you can hit submit at 8am! Registration is a BATTLE.

5. Once you're down to a year left of courses then apply the year before you should transfer.IE: I am applying for FALL 2015 in Fall 2014.

6. APPLY for a TAG if you're doing UCs. You get one TAG so make sure it's your #1 UC choice (out of the UCs that supply TAGs). You have to use the TAP website to fill out the TAG. You can do this a long time before you can submit the TAG which is in September, using the Transfer Admission Planner (TAP)!

7. Know what is in your GPA group. If you're a 3.2 student, maybe consider you are unlikely to get into a UC but don't let this stop you from applying!

APPLICATION PROCESS

-The APPLICATION involves you supplying your classes and GPA. This is informal but MUST be accurate. If your grades do not match what you write down you will NOT be accepted.
-You must also do two short 'essays' called PERSONAL STATEMENTS for the UC ONLY.
-You supply what extra-curricular activities you did, if you worked, what awards/achievements you've received, what volunteer stuff you've done, etc.
- You APPLY NOVEMBER 1 (through Nov 30) for UC and OCTOBER 1(through Oct 30) for CSU

WHILE YOU WAIT...

- If they ask for more info SEND it in ASAP.
- Follow ALL recommendations/requests.
- VISIT the COLLEGES WHILE YOU WAIT or BEFORE YOU APPLY!
- I recommend when visiting the college do NOT do JUST the TOUR. Also, E-mail the ADVISORS for the major(s) and MEET them if you can!!
- APPLY for SCHOLARSHIPS!

ONCE ACCEPTED:

1. Figure out which colleges you were accepted in that you want to attend the most! Study it, study the major, visit it, ETC. Make sure it is the best choice for you, not only the most prestigious, etc. Then ACCEPT the college when you know! :)

2. Figure out what it costs to live there, how you'll live there (on-campus or not), apply for HOUSING ASAP; if off-campus with who?

3. APPLY for SCHOLARSHIPS if they're still available. APPLY for FINANCIAL AID!

4. Meet with the major(s) advisor(s).

5. Start getting ready to move-in, register for classes the second you can, buy what you need, etc! :D

Best of... TARGET Women's Dresses for Fall.

Hey, I like a deal and Target is among my go-to places (like TJ Maxx or Old Navy).

Pros: Nice color, trendy, nice length, could be a tad long on shorter folk, height of model is unknown.
Cons: Either have to wear loosely or expect for it to cling some.
Sizing: XS-XXL
Pros: Nice Colour, material and shape. Length is nice as well.
Cons: Doesn't carry XXL
Sizing: XS-XL

Pros: All 3 of these designs are so cute! I like this cute, the subtle natural waist detail and the length is nice.
Cons: High cut might be an issue for some, especially busty women.
Sizing: XS-XXL (JRS! Albeit, Target says the XXL is the equivalency of a 19).
Pros: The green is my favourite colour but the dark blue is very nice as well. The pink/red might be very pretty in person but looked to bright for me in the pic. Length and cut are good.
Cons: Stretchy material might mean it can cling and pleats look like they'd be fine but might be an issue for some.
Sizing: XS-XXL

Pros: I PERSONALLY like the black better than the white, the design is much more subtle but the white is nice. The cut is nice and the length is good too. Material looks nice.
Cons: Have to wear looser to look right, unless you want a curve-hugging look. :)
Sizing: XS-XXL

Pros: Both prints are cute, cut, material and length are nice.
Cons: None really.
Details: You could wear with the belt for a structured look or remove it for a true shirtdress style.
Sizing: XS-XXL

My Bedroom Video from December 2013. I will totally update soon since it has changed!

LINK

Note: Sorry for my awkward voice and breathing! I had like an awful cold doing this video. I'd delete it but I'll wait till I have a new one made that is WAY better. :)

Cutest Modcloth Beauty Items!

Note: Captions are the Links to the Products! :)

Note: There are 4 colours of these glosses: Rose (seen above), Cherry, Strawberry and Magenta.

Note: There is also a 'Lash Hurrah' which is yellow from this brand.

Note: These come with pink and red bows too.

Leos do it best! ;) (Disclaimer: I'm a leo!)

Note: I love MINT. I have loved the scent, flavor and colour since I was a kid and I had a mint green minnie mouse themed bedroom. Now, it is cream with a mint striped accent wall I did myself. :)
